Rage Reviews
Season 1
Origin: 22/25
I loved the exploring of mythology that the series did, it wasn’t loads, but it was enough to get a good idea of where this story came from. The idea of Crowley and Aziraphale being at all the many events in history was a great move, you get really connected with the characters as they get solid backstories. Even the concept of Heaven and Hell in this series is good, its not overcomplicated and it does the job it needs to do.
Story: 21/25
This narrative is good fun and allows for light-hearted humour mixed with some heavier stuff. It does well to explain whats going on at the start and in the middle, but by the end it loses its charm and becomes slightly weird, when the kid summons the devil. Even though Crowley and Aziraphale are the stranger characters to become attached to, you manage to fall in love with their characters, they bring so much energy and fun to the series.
Camera/SFX: 23/25
Its strange… Most moments had good CGI and kept the illusion going. But then there were some moments that looked like a 5 year old child had just got bored and decided to rush some scribbles on the page. I get that Adam was having dreams but they could have done a better job and making his dreams look more convincing. Overall though I was impressed, it was so enjoyable to watch.
Performance: 22/25
The casting directors got the two main characters perfect, David Tennant and Michael Sheen are brilliant together. Even when they are on their own they bring energy and great character depth. It was a good cast: Jack Whitehall, Jon Hamm, Adria Arjona are just a few who did great. However, I don’t know if it was the script or the actors, but there were a few who just looked and sounded cheesy, it slowed the narrative down and made it look ridiculous at times.
